55th meeting of Islamabad Toastmasters Club held

The 55th meeting of Islamabad Toastmasters Club (ITC) was held at National Institute of Cultural Studies (NICS), Lok Virsa, Islamabad, for developing competent communicators and competent leaders in a friendly supportive environment.

According to a press release issued here Wednesday, 13 participants attended the meeting. The monthly theme was ‘Mix and match’ and the theme of the day was ‘Last days of summer’. The word of the day suggested by the word master Toastmaster Naveed Ahmed was ‘Thirst’.

Table topics master Mohsin Lodhi initiated the new style of conducting table topics in a round robin loop story telling fashion. He invited six participants to make impromptu speeches. The purpose of impromptu speech is to enable the speakers to ‘Think on their Feet’ and deliver the extempore speech.

Toastmaster Sara Zahidi won the prize for the ‘Best Table Topics Speaker.’ Out the four prepared speeches, which each speaker delivers between 5 and 7 minutes, Toastmaster Sara Zahidi clinched the ‘Best Prepared Speaker Award.’ Her topic was ‘My secret obsession’.

Evaluation, the essential part of the Toastmasters’ activity, to give feedback on the performance of participants and ambiance, which includes vocal variety, ah counting, correct grammar usage On the evaluation side, out of the four speech evaluators and one Table Topics Evaluator, Toastmaster Mohsin Lodhi, won the ‘Best Evaluator Award.’

Amongst the BIG 3, ‘The Toastmaster of the Day’, ‘The Table Topics Master’ and the ‘General Evaluator’, Toastmaster Mohsin Lodhi, who performed as the Table Topics Master won the Big 3 Award.
